Not because the science is bad. Because it rarely lands where it is needed. Methodologies are built on assumptions that have never been tested. Verification protocols miss what they were not designed to see. Project developers claim SDG alignment without the evidence to back it up. And the scientists who could fix it are publishing papers that no one implementing carbon projects ever reads.

A 12-week fellowship to map the real relationship between carbon crediting and the SDGs - producing a portfolio that lands where it matters.

What It Is?

A twelve-week fellowship for climate professionals ready to move beyond academic research and into the infrastructure of climate action. We take seventeen scientists, each choosing one Sustainable Development Goal that aligns with their expertise and interest, and give them a structure to map the real relationship between carbon crediting and that goal.

Why Seventeen?

Seventeen is not arbitrary. It mirrors the SDGs - a deliberate reminder that carbon credibility cannot be solved through isolated technical progress. Every system worth building must eventually connect to wider planetary outcomes.

Seventeen is also small enough that every contribution is visible. Weak work cannot hide. If you do serious work, it will matter and be recognised.

You should apply if:

You have worked on carbon methodologies, MRV, permanence science, emissions quantification, or climate verification - and you can speak to that experience with specificity.

You can read a paper and tell the difference between what is actually true and what everyone simply assumes is true, even when those assumptions are widely accepted.

You have felt, at some point, the quiet frustration of watching carbon markets ignore your SDG - and you want to do something about it, not just talk about it.

You are willing to be wrong, to revise your thinking when the evidence says so, and to start over if that is what the work demands.

You should not apply if:

You are looking for a passive network where you can broadcast your work without engaging in the hard work of peer review, revision, and defense. The fellowship is not a platform for visibility without contribution.

You cannot commit to 8–12 hours per week for twelve consecutive weeks. Your place takes a spot from someone who can and will show up consistently, submit on time, and engage with the work seriously.

You want a certificate without earning it through weekly submissions, peer reviews & revisions. The certificate is a record of work done, not participation alone.

You are looking for a stipend. There is none. The value is in the work, the network, the portfolio, and the post-fellowship pathways.
